Midtown was originally developed in the late 1840’s as a planned suburb. Since then, it has undergone many changes as the city has grown and gone through the civil war, the opening of the downtown connector highway, and the inclusion of MARTA. After the MARTA opened in 1981, Midtown as we know it today began to form. High-rise condos began to emerge, and in the early 2000’s Mayor Shirley Franklin rolled out a plan to make Peachtree Street a street-level shopping destination.

Piedmont Park alone could make Midtown an unmatched area in which to live. Not only does the BeltLine run through it, but it also has dog parks, great city views, and lush green space — one could spend an entire weekend in the park and not get bored. If that weren’t already enough, Midtown has more cultural landmarks and more business hubs than any other neighborhood within Atlanta. Catch a play, eat at an upscale restaurant, attend a concert or just relax in the sun, you can do it all in Midtown, and thanks to its central location, you can get everywhere without driving.

Variety is abound in Midtown’s architecture thanks to its staggered development throughout the years. The Fox Theatre Historic District is home to much beautiful Italianate architecture. In the past 15 years, the center of Midtown has seen a ton of modern high rises sprout up out of the ground, while East Midtown is known for its bungalows and Queen Anne style homes.
